EV-DynLab: vehicle dynamics, performance and energy app

A MATLAB app that calculates an EV's acceleration, range, energy use, braking and handling — no Simulink needed.

Twelve plots of speed, torque, power, forces, SOC, regeneration and energy over a WLTP cycle
WLTP drive cycle results for the default EV

Aim

Set up a vehicle, motor and battery, run drive cycles or acceleration tests, and study energy use, regeneration, tyres, braking and stability.

What you’ll learn

  • Road load: aerodynamic, rolling and grade resistance
  • Motor envelope, battery limits and regenerative braking
  • 0–100 km/h, top speed, gradeability and kWh/100 km
  • Tyre models, weight transfer, braking and stability (Level 2)

How to run it in MATLAB Online

  1. Unzip the package we send you.
  2. Go to matlab.mathworks.com and sign in (campus licence or MathWorks trial).
  3. In MATLAB Drive, click Upload and choose the unzipped folder.
  4. In MATLAB Online, open the folder and double-click the model (.slx) or run the start script named in README.
  5. Press Run. Results appear in the scopes, dashboard or figures.
